Product Description

Sodium Sulfamate is a common industrial-grade chemical intermediate with clear core identification information. Its CAS number is 13845-18-6, molecular formula is H2NNaO3S, and molecular weight is 119.076 (detailed parameters: average mass 119.0755 Da, exact mass 118.965309 Da, nominal mass 119 Da). Its English names include Sodium sulfamate and Sulfamic Acid Sodium Salt, and it can also be identified and verified through codes such as EINECS 237-572-8 and MFCD00059940.
At room temperature, the product exists in a solid state, appearing as white powder or crystals without special pungent odor. It has high visual recognition, facilitating feeding operations and preliminary purity judgment. Its molecular structure features stable properties, with 2 covalent bond units, a topological polar surface area (TPSA) of 91.6, 1 hydrogen bond donor, and 4 hydrogen bond acceptors. There is no optical activity or isomerism, providing a structural stability foundation for subsequent industrial applications. However, the product exhibits a certain degree of hygroscopicity, so humidity must be strictly controlled during storage and transportation to avoid caking or performance degradation.

Product Features

Strong Controllability of Physical and Chemical Properties:

Although some parameters (such as density, melting point, and boiling point) have not been determined yet, core properties—including appearance (white powder/crystals), state (solid), and molecular characteristics (no rotatable chemical bonds, surface charge = 0)—are clear, allowing process adjustment based on specific application scenarios. Under high temperature, it may only decompose to produce nitrogen oxides (NOₓ) and sulfur oxides; it maintains excellent chemical stability in regular use and rarely reacts with non-oxidizing substances.

Clear and Easy-to-Implement Storage Conditions:

No complex storage equipment is required. It only needs to be stored in a sealed container under an inert gas environment, placed in a cool and dark area, and kept away from incompatible substances such as oxidants. This storage requirement can be easily met even by small and medium-sized enterprises.

Low Safety Risk and Easy Protection:

According to GHS classification, the product is not classified as a physical, health, or environmental hazard and has no special hazard labels. Only basic protective equipment (dust mask, protective gloves, safety goggles) is needed to ensure operational safety, reducing the safety management costs of enterprises.

Product Applications

Based on its molecular structure and stability, Sodium Sulfamate has mature application scenarios across multiple industries, as detailed below:

Metal Surface Treatment:

As a component of mild cleaning agents, it can remove oxide layers, scale, and oil stains from the surface of precision components (such as stainless steel and aluminum products). Its sulfamic acid group provides weak acidic cleaning power, while causing low corrosion to metal substrates, avoiding component damage.

Electroplating Process Auxiliary:

It acts as an electroplating bath stabilizer. By regulating the ion balance of the system, it reduces defects such as plating pinholes and peeling, improving the uniformity and adhesion of zinc-plated and nickel-plated layers. It is particularly suitable for regular processes in small and medium-sized electroplating workshops.

Agrochemical Intermediate:

It is used in the synthesis of low-toxicity herbicides. Its sulfonate structure can specifically inhibit weed photosynthesis. With good degradability and low residue in soil, it is safe for crops such as wheat and corn, meeting the requirements of green agriculture.

Textile Printing and Dyeing Auxiliary:

When used synergistically with bleaching agents (e.g., hydrogen peroxide), it stabilizes the pH value of the bleaching system, preventing fibers (such as cotton and linen) from becoming brittle due to pH fluctuations. Meanwhile, it improves bleaching efficiency, enhances the durability of fabric whiteness, and reduces the rework rate.

Product Transportation

Qualification and Compliance Requirements:

The product has no specified UN transport number, and its UN classification is inconsistent with standard classifications. Carriers with hazardous chemicals transportation qualifications must be selected, and the entire transportation process must comply with the provisions on transportation and loading/unloading in the *Regulations on the Safety Management of Hazardous Chemicals* (issued in 2002 and revised in 2011). Prior reporting to the regulatory authorities along the route is required.

Packaging and Labeling:

The product should be packaged in paper barrels lined with plastic or sealed plastic barrels to ensure no container damage or leakage. The outer packaging must be clearly labeled with "Sodium Sulfamate", "CAS 13845-18-6", "Moisture-Proof", and "Keep Away from Oxidants" to avoid mis-transportation or mis-operation.

Environmental and Co-Transportation Taboos:

Transport vehicles must be well-ventilated to avoid high-temperature exposure and rain; the carriage temperature should be controlled at normal temperature (around 25°C). Mixed loading with oxidants and strong acid goods is strictly prohibited to prevent contact reactions.

Emergency Treatment for Leakage:

In case of leakage, immediately park the vehicle in an upwind safe area. Operators should wear dust masks and protective gloves, collect the leaked dust with dry tools (avoid dispersion), place it in an airtight container, and dispose of it in accordance with local environmental protection regulations. It is forbidden for the dust to enter sewers or soil.
